A couple from Ambalangoda, aged 50 and 46, was fatally shot yesterday (10) in the Urwatta area on the Galle-Colombo main road. The shooting occurred while they were returning home from the police station, where they had gone to withdraw a complaint filed against neighbors.
The incident took place as the couple was traveling by motorcycle and was targeted by two unidentified individuals on another motorcycle. Police later discovered the suspects' motorcycle abandoned in the Meetiyagoda area.
The deceased couple was reportedly facing ongoing court proceedings related to drug charges. Additionally, it is reported that the woman’s brother was murdered a few months ago.
