Voting for the 2024 Parliamentary Election officially closed at 4 PM, with voter turnout ranging between 60% and 65%, according to election observers.

Turnout percentages reported by returning officers include:

Colombo: 65%
Nuwara Eliya: 68%
Puttalam: 56%
Matara: 64%
Badulla: 67%
Batticaloa: 61%
The Election Commission will begin counting postal votes at 4:15 PM, with general vote counting starting around 7:15 PM.

The 2024 Parliamentary Election will elect a total of 225 Members of Parliament, with 196 members chosen by public vote and 29 through the national list.

Each electoral district has a designated seat allocation, with Gampaha District receiving the highest at 19 seats, plus a bonus seat, while Trincomalee District has the fewest, with 4 seats.

The political party or independent group securing the highest number of votes in each district will have one member elected to the bonus seat. The remaining seats will be allocated based on the proportion of votes obtained by each party or independent group.
