Assigning of marks for offences in driving from today.

Motor Traffic Department says that assigning marks for offences in driving and suspension or cancellation of driving licence is implemented from today.

Motor Traffic Department Commissioner General S. H. Harischandra said that this point system was implemented for creating disciplined drivers.

Under this programme this point system will be first implemented against drivers driving vehicles under the influence of liquor and drivers causing deadly vehicle accidents.

One mark is assigned per offence and the driving licence is scheduled to be cancelled when the score thus accumulated reaches the 24th mark.
