Sathyagraha in front of Chief Justice's official residence; Letter sent to the UN

Golden Key depositors began a sathyagraha in front of the official residence of Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayaka today.


The Golden Key depositors also engaged in a foot march which started from Thimbirigasyaya to educate the public and the rulers, of the injustice suffered by them.


The protestors travelled along the Bauddaloka mawatha and handed over letters to several embassies along the way including the Colombo office of the UN, the Chinese embassy and the British High Commission.


The chairman of the united golden key depositors association Wasantha Gunathillake explained the reasons behind the protest.




Speaking at a press conference organized by the Lawyers' Union, Attorney at Law Jayampathi Karunarathne stated that a protest march will be initiated on the 10th of this month protesting against the impeachment report being taken up for debate in parliament.


The Matara Lawyers Association has decided to abstain from legal practice during the two days the impeachment report is being debated.
