Country not instable says Government; JVP set to boycott debate

The parliamentary debate on the impeachment motion of the Chief Justice is set to take place at parliament on the 10th & 11th of this week.

According to a decision which was reached collectively during a meeting of political party heads the voting on the impeachment will commence at 6.30 tomorrow evening followed by the debate.

Meanwhile a special party leaders meeting is currently underway at the parliamentary complex which was called into session based on a written request of Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe & other opposition political party leaders.

The meeting has been called to re-discuss tomorrow's debate on the impeachment of the Chief Justice.

However several views were expressed during various media briefings which were held today under various party banners.

Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage made these observations during a media briefing which was held in Colombo this morning.


JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayeke meanwhile asserted that neither his party nor the Democratic National Alliance would take part in tomorrows debate aimed at ousting the Chief justice.


The United National party against this backdrop states that it will vote in disfavour of the impeachment.

Party parliamentarian Ajith P. Perera made the following observations in this regard.
