New Chief Justice would not be recognised says group of attorneys

Various views were expressed during several media briefings which were held today concerning the ousting of Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Banadaranaike and the appointment of her successor.


Chairman of the National Trade Union Centre K.D. Lal Kantha addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today expressed the following views in this regard.




Meanwhile Senior Attorney Chandrapala Kumarage who took part in a media briefing held in Colombo today noted that if a new Chief Justice is appointed the conglomeration of attorneys would fail to recognise the appointment.




Moreover Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Lawyers Association Attorney-at-Law Champani Padmasekara stated that according to the constitution a decision issued by the President could not be challenged.




President's Council Jayampathi Wickremerathna also expressed his views at the media briefing.




Senior attorney Champani Padmaseka meanwhile expressed these views in reply.
