Divi naguma work begins.

The 'Divinaguma' training programme has been launched in 324 Divisional Secretariats.


Issuing a communiqué the Economic Development Ministry says that the 'Divi-naguma' training programme was launched yesterday with the participation of community leaders island-wide and would be continued till 20th instant.


The objective of this 'Divi-naguma' programme implemented based on the 'Mahinda Chinthana Vision for the Future' is to eradicate poverty from this country.


The Ministry says that a number of activities for eradicating the country's current 8.9 per cent poverty will be implemented through this programme.


Currently training officers have been deployed in 14 thousand 008 Graama Sevaa areas.


'Gama naeguma', 'Pura naeguma', Divisional Programmes, Investment Programmes, as well as tourism Promotion Programmes too will be implemented through this.


The release says that similarly small-scale programmes targeting family nutrition, food protection and the agricultural sector too are scheduled to be implemented.
