Local entrepreneur goes missing in Mahawa

The police states that a businessman who had won the presidential gold medal for production of locally manufactured food has been missing since last night.


The missing individual, Ajith Dissanayaka hailing from the Mahawa - Badulla region, was the proprietor of a business manufacturing biscuits and cakes using local food items.


Speaking to our news team the wife of this businessman stated that with his biscuits gaining popularity amongst consumers, he had received threats to stop manufacturing those products.


Ajith Dissanayaka has left his residence in response to a notification issued by the Kurunegala Industrial Entrepreneurs Association and had gotten aboard a bus travelling from Mahawa to Kurunegala at approximately 9.30 in the morning.


According to his wife, there has been no information regarding her husband's current whereabouts.


Upon inquiry by our news team, police media spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakody stated that the Mahawa and Kurunegala police stations have initiated investigations into the disappearance.
