Risk of Influenza announced in Central province

Central Province Director of Health Dr. Shanthi Samarasinghe notes that concurrent to the cold weather being experienced a heightened risk of influenza

has emerged in the province.

According to Dr. Samarasinghe 12 patients who were admitted to the Mathale General Hospital have died due to the contraction of influenza.

The cause behind these deaths has been ascertained by the Medical Research Institute in Colombo.

In the wake of the heightened influenza risk pregnant mothers have been requested to remain extra cautious regarding their health.
