Monday, 21 January 2013 - 8:02

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Muttuvel Karunaanidi says that an environment favourable to Tamils living in Sri Lanka does not exist.

The Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that India should take proper action with regard to it.

PTI reported that Karunaanidi had pointed this out in a letter addressed to Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress Party Leader Soniya Gandhi.

In the letter Karunaanidi also points out that a programme of strategically sidelining the Tamil language and culture is being implemented.

He points out that according to this programme settling Sinhala people in areas where the Tamils form the majority is taking place.

Indian reports say that in the letter Karunaanidi has pointed out that the financial allocation for resettling the Tamil families displaced as a result of the war was not sufficient.
