Heavy rains and disaster condition subsides

328 thousand 189 individuals in the Batticaloa district continue to be affected due to the inclement weather conditions.


The total number of affected persons in 6 districts stands at 351,703.


Deputy Media Director at the Disaster Management Centre Sarath Lal Kumara stated that those who have been displaced have been provided shelter at 40 camps.


The Irrigations Department meanwhile stated that few more sluice gates which were opened in certain reservoirs can be closed today.


Meanwhile, the MET Department stated that they expect a reduction in the prevailing rainy weather conditions.
