Representatives of several Muslim organisations shared an audience with Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremnesinghe today with regards to the alleged spawning of extremist religious views within the country.

Subsequent to today's meeting the UNP has decided to make a special statement in parliament next week.

During today's meeting it was decided that it was the collective responsibility of all parties to ensure harmony between all ethnicities.

When inquired from the Leader of the Bodhubala Sena Organisation Venerable Kirama Wimalajothi Thero he denied that his organisation was a racist outfit.

Although attempts were made by our news team to contact a representative of the Jamiyyathul Ulama in this regard they proved futile.

However Secretary of the Colombo Grand Mosque Nadooshan Hassen stressed that there was no Muslim extremism within the country.
