Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Thera stated that according to Buddhism, it is unsuitable for Buddhist Monks to engage in politics.

 

The Thera stated that Buddhist monks should only provide advice to the rulers of a country.

 

Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter stated that some young Buddhist monks engage in protests on streets and stated that it was unsuitable.

 

This was when Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion Faizer Musthapa visited the Most Venerable Thera yesterday.

 

Meanwhile, Minister of Wildlife Conservation Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa also met with the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter Most venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Thera.

 

Special attention was drawn towards safeguarding wild animals where the Chief Prelate stated that indigenous people had stopped destroying wild animals where as normal people are increasingly engaging in hunting of animals.

 

Minister of Wildlife Conservation Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa also met with the Chief Prelate of the Malwathu Chapter Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera after which he said that he had a stiff challenge before him.
