'Come see' President invites international community

President Mahinda Rajapaksa presiding over the 65th Independence Day celebrations in Trincomalee this morning added that it was time to construct the foreign policy of the country based on a non-binding resolution, in a bid to protect the freedom which was painstakingly obtained.

Speaking further during the main Independence Day celebrations held in Trincomalee President Rajapaksa stressed that significant as well as emerging nations should respect the United Nations mandate alike.


Moreover President Rajapaksa noted that development & reconciliation were the best tools to confront international challenges with.


The President also noted that those who were attempting to incite religious & ethnic divisions were inevitably engaged in fostering separatism.


President Rajapaksa also noted that the responsibility of preserving the independence obtained was an onus resting with the countries government as well as its opposition.
