A 50 thousand rupee personal bail for a school girl who stole eight coconuts for painting the school.

A 13 – year - old girl who allegedly robbed eight coconuts from a nearby garden was ordered to be released on a 50 rupee personal bond by Horana Acting Magistrate yesterday.

The grade 8 student when questioned said her teacher had asked them bring 800 rupees each to paint the walls of the school and she had no means of finding this money.

She said her parents were not in a position to raise this sum and hence her decision to sell the coconuts and hand over the proceeds to the teacher.
