Compensate Golden Key depositors; UNP

United National Party MP Lakshman Kiriella expressing his views to the media today asserted that the government should compensate 'Golden Key' depositors

since it had not heeded the instructions issued by the then governor of the Central Bank Sunil Mendis.


Issuing a report in 2005, Sunil Mendis had prescribed the closure of Golden Key, which had been disregarded by the government due to its oversight.




When inquired by the present Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Niward Cabraal in this regard he had this to say.
