Youth assaulted by Chairman of Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya sabha admitted to hospital

A youth allegedly assaulted by the Chairman of the Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha has been admitted to hospital.

The victim an 18 year old youth of the Nochchiyagama-Andara-wewa had come under assault while he had been engaged in mobile trade.

Initially admitted to the Nochchiyagama District hospital, the victim has now been transferred to the Anuradhapura teaching hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile the Saliya-wewa police is said to have received a complaint regarding the assault which was executed at the Saliya-wewa junction last evening.

According to police the Chairman of the Karuwalagas-wewa Pradeshiya sabha is said to have been under the influence of intoxicants during the time of the assault.
