Main reason for the spreading of Japanese Encephalitis is unclosed mines; Maheepala Herath

The Sabaragamu provincial chief minister Maheepala Herath states that the main reason for the spreading of Japanese Encephalitis is all the unclosed mines spread throughout the district.

The ministry of health states that a batch of special immunization medication created under special laboratory conditions has been received from the Colombo Medical Research Institute.

It is stated that this medication cannot be purchased over the counter and that only a limited amount of the drug is produced each year.

Speaking further the director of MRI Anil Samaranayaka stated that based on information received regarding the lack of medication the ministry of health had made a request from an institute in Pune, India to supply the immunization medication.
