An internet website notes that the family of Wengadasalam Sudeshkar a Sri Lankan who has been condemned to death in Qatar finds it hard to raise the sum of 3.5 million required for his release, which the opposing party has demanded as blood money.

However according to the Asian Human Rights Council the Family of Sudeshkar has been able to raise 2.8 million rupees with deficit of seven hundred thousand rupees remaining.

The Asian Human Rights Council notes that the Wengadasalam Sudeshkar should not be left to share the same fate as Rizana Nafeek who was recently

beheaded in Saudi Arabia.

Sudeshkar who had travelled to Qatar in 2011 in search of employment had been serving as a minor employee at a fruit stall where he had assaulted an Indian National based on dispute who had later succumbed to his death.

He was convicted in 2012 and commuted the death sentence.
