Buddha statues banned in Iran

Iran has banned sale of Buddha statues in the country.

According to a report published in the Arman daily Authorities are confiscating Buddha statues from shops in the capital, Tehran, to stop the promotion of Buddhism in the country.

Some Iranians buy Buddha's statues for merely for decoration.


Most are made in China and come from Iranian free-trade zones in the Persian Gulf.
