Jamiyyathul Ulama scoffs 'Halal certification' solution

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama questions as to how the solution provided with regards to 'Halal' certification would be implemented.


The ACJU demands that the practicality of this solution should be demonstrated.


A tense dialog still continues to grip society over the Halal certification.


During a media briefing convened by the ACJU, Secretary of the ACJU' s Halal certification unit Murshid Moularsar added that the same product could issued to the market with or without the Halal certification.




However the Lanka Jamiyyathul Ulama questions this solution.


It's Media Spokesperson Mohammed Rahuman stated that the enactment of this solution should be demonstrated.




Meanwhile Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella during the day's cabinet decision media briefing expressed the following views in this regard.




Moreover the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the Halal controversy convened for the first time today.


The ACJHU As well as the Bodhu Bala Sena Organisation were both summoned before the PSC appointed to carryout investigations in this regard.


While Senior Minister Rathnasiri Wickramanayeke heads the PSC, Ministers D.E.W. Gunasekara, Dinesh Gunawardhana, Champika Ranawaka, Wimal Weerawansa, Thissa Witharana, Wasudewa Nanayakkara, Rauff Hakeem, A.L.M. Athaullah & A.H.M. Fowzie remain its members.
