Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee Head Sanath Jayasuriya says that the members of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team had agreed to sign their annual contract.

A special discussion was held yesterday with regard to the problem that had arisen in connection with the signing of their annual contract.

That was between Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee Head  Sanath Jayasuriya and cricketers who had not signed the contracts.

Speaking to our news team after the discussion Selection Committee Head Sanath Jayasuriya stated as follows:

The former contract between players & Sri Lanka Cricket expired on the 28th of last month.

It is reported that 60 cricketers including 23 senior players have refrained from placing their signatures for the renewed contracts.

According to informed sources players are said to have refrained from signing their respective contracts due to several new conditions contained in the contracts as well as issues pertaining to contract payments.

Accordingly players have reportedly demanded 78 % of the total contact fee from SLC.

However against this backdrop Sri Lanka cricket has decided to only offer players 68% of their contract earnings.

When contacted former Sri Lanka skipper Arjuna Ranathunga who led the island's cricket team to a world cup victory had this to say with regards to the deadlock between players & SLC officials.
