The police have stopped a group of individuals who were on their way to Colombo for a protest from the North in the Vavuniya region.

The protest organized at the Vihara Maha Devi park by the group named “The platform of freedom” aims to exert pressure on the government to find relatives that have gone missing during the war.

However, speaking to our TNA parliamentarian M. Sarawanabawan stated that the police had obstructed a group of Tamil nationals that were travelling to Colombo from Vavuniya in buses.

Upon inquiry by our news team, the police media unit stated that they were detained after the police had received information that the group in question was going to be attacked en route.
