Global convention against terrorism required - Sri Lanka notifies the UNHRC session in Geneva

Sri Lanka states that a comprehensive global convention should be established immediately to combat terrorism.

Sri Lanka is also currently an active member of the ad hoc committee that was established by the UN regarding this.

According to a UN resolution that was passed in 1996, a global convention should be established against terrorism and Sri Lanka hopes to successfully conclude discussions regarding this and endorse the convention expediently.

The Sri Lankan representatives at the UNHRC session in Geneva made this statement while expressing their views on the program put in to action in Sri Lanka to combat terrorism while safeguarding human rights and fundamental rights.
