India continues to be vigilant regarding the condition of the Tamil population of Sri Lanka.

While India hopes to facilitate an environment where Tamils can live with honor and dignity, there are issues that are existent in Sri Lanka.

Political reconciliation is required to solve the issues of the Sri Lankan Tamils.

Without national reconciliation normalcy cannot be expected.

Indian premier Dr. Manmohan Singh made these statements while addressing the Indian Raja Sabha yesterday.

The Indian premier further stated that to achieve a political solution the Sri Lankan government needs to engage in discussions with high level Tamil leaders.

However, Indian media stated that the Indian premier did not mention the US proposal against Sri Lanka presented at Geneva or regarding the pictures of the alleged murder of Prabakaran’s son Balachandran.
