Protest from atop a tree in Kottawa continues.

Thursday, 21 March 2013 - 8:17

A father who climbed on to a tree demanding solutions to the problems that have cropped up in the Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya situated along the Kottawa-Piliyandala Road is continuing his protest.

The father launched his protest by climbing on to a huge ‘Maara’ tree in the centre of the Kottawa town last morning.

He has thus climbed on to a tree in protest against transferring the school’s primary section to another school.

Speaking to our news team from the top of the tree this morning, School Protection Organization Convener Indrajith Perera said that he would not get down from the tree till solutions for his demands were found.

However views were expressed with regard to this in parliament yesterday.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardhana  said that the person concerned had descended from the tree.

This is that statement the Education Minister made in parliament yesterday.
