Although education sector officials in the North Central province had decided to conduct school classes today, a majority of teachers are reported to have been absent.

According to our correspondents this had severely impacted school term tests scheduled for the day.

Teachers had been absent today in an expression of dissent against a decision formulated by education sector officials where school classes have been scheduled for three consecutive Saturdays including today.

Chairman of the Lanka Teacher Services Association Aruna Dissanayeke speaking to our news team expressed more views in this regard.

UNP MP P. Harrison also opined on the matter whilst expressing these views.

When inquired from Education Minister of the North Central Province, Peshala Jayarathna regarding the decision taken by education sector officials in this regard, he had this to say.
