Fire at Orugodawaththa oil storage facility contained

A fire has erupted at an oil storage terminal located in Orugodawaththa.


According to the Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Susantha Desilva the fire had been caused by a lightning strike which had occurred a short while ago.


However he also noted that the fire brigade has doused the fire which had erupted at storage terminal number 2.


Around 42,000 Metric tonnes of oil remains stored at terminal number 2.
