Members of the Democratic National Alliance, MPs Arjuna Ranatunga and Tiran Alles met the elections commissioner today to engage in discussions regarding the issues plaguing the registration of Sarath Fonseka’s Democratic Party.
This situation arose after MPs Tiran Alles and Arjuna Ranatunga left the DNA.
MP Tiran Alles happens to be the former general secretary of the DNA and he had filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission as well for not registering the party while he was a part of the DNA.
However, following the resignation of MP Tiran Alles from the DNA Sarath Fonseka alleged that he is obstructing the registration of his party.
Nevertheless, MPs Tiran Alles and Arjuna Ranatunga who met with the elections commissioner stated that they have no objection regarding the party registration.
Sarath Fonseka stated that he will be meeting the elections commissioner to hand over the list of members tomorrow.
Sarath Fonseka is preparing to contest the upcoming provincial council election under the symbol of the firebrand.
