The Colombo Museum was reopened to the public from today except for one section.

The museum was closed for public recently as a result of the collapse of a museum stairway injuring 36 persons including schoolchildren and teachers.

National Heritage Minister Jagath Baalasuriya earlier said that a 5 member committee would be appointed for probing the incident.

Meanwhile the archeological department decided to examine the steel stare case at Seegiriya in order to prevent such accidents in the future.

Director general of the department Professor Senarath Dissanayaka stated that expedient investigations will be carried out.
