Bus unions recede; demand a revision before 20th

The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Union says that the private bus employees’ strike scheduled to be launched demanding bus fare increase will be carried out after the New Year.


Union Chairman Gaemunu Wijeratne said that this decision had been taken in consideration of the inconvenience to the people during the New Year season.




However All Ceylon Private Bus union federation said that its union will not participate in this private bus strike.


Union secretary Anjana Priyanjit said that Private Transport Services Ministry Secretary had promised to the union to provide a seven per cent bus fare increase on April 20th.


However Private Transport Services Ministry Secretary Victor Samaraweera said that he had never made such a pledge.
