The stock of spirits recently apprehended has been confirmed as alcohol; suspects remanded.

It has been corroborated by the test carried out by the Industrial Technology Institute that the suspected stock of spirits in the two containers apprehended at the Thotalanga – Ingurukade junction recently was Ethanol containing alcohol.   

Similarly Excise Deparment Deputy Commissioner  A. Bodaragama said that the Government Analyst’s Department report on the suspected spirits were scheduled to be received within the next few days.

It has been revealed that these two containers contained 62000 litres of Ethanol

Similarly a main suspect in importing this stock of Ethanol was also arrested.

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court also ordered yesterday that the relevant suspect be remanded till 17th this month.
