Court orders arrest of suspect in Madawala murder

A court order was issued today to arrest the son of Sarath Kumara alias Singapore Sarath-Imesh Ishan who is a suspect of the murder of Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha member Hasitha Madawala.


Imesh Ishan who has been arraigned chargers for supplying the murder weapon has been ordered to be placed under arrest if he attempts to enter or leave the country.


The following orders were issued when the case in this regard was taken up before Mahara Acting Magistrate Berni Alwis today.


The Criminal Investigation Department’s Katunayeke post has also been informed in this regard.


Mahara chief Magistrate Sahan Mapa ordered the arrest of Imesh Ishan, the son of Sarath Kumara on the 28th of March once he arrives in the island.


However when the case was taken up before acting magistrate Berni Alwis today the CID informed court that it had not yet arrested the suspect.


The CID also informed court that it had not received any information regarding the definite whereabouts of the suspect.
