The Jathika Hela Urumaya states that the United States has no right to interfere in matters Pertaining to the Ceylon Electricity Board.

Leader of the JHU Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thero Made this observation in reply to a request which has been made by the United States.

The US Embassy in Colombo had earlier stated that it wanted discussions regarding the proposed electricity tariff hike & fuel suspension to the board.

The US embassy had requested for an audience with Chairman of the CEB W.B. Ganegala & its Deputy Manager Nihal Wickramasooriya.

Against this backdrop the administration of the CEB is of the opinion that these discussions are uncalled for.

However since the request being made is diplomatic in nature the CEB has sought advice from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Speaking to our news team Leader of JHU Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thero expressed the following views to our news team.
