Reason behind drop in Koel sound this New Year comes to light

Environmentalists observe that the sound of the koel which signals the dawn of the New Year is being heard less often compared to earlier years.


When inquired from environmentalist Jagath Gunawardhana he noted that the Koel which lays its eggs in the nests of crows had been unable to do so since crows had constructed their nests prior to the new year.
