Official Spokesperson of the Indian External Affairs Ministry Syed Akbaruddin stated that India does not have a competitive relationship with Sri Lanka.

He stated that India is the largest trade partner of Sri Lanka and is also the largest investor in Sri Lanka.

In an interview with BUSINESS STANDARD he said that they were working on the next phase of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

We are now already starting to work on that. As far as we see our relationship with Sri Lanka, we do not see it in competitive terms. We see it as a win-win situation both for India and for Sri Lanka, and we are quite comfortable with that situation.

The Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson stated that the relationship with Sri Lanka was more a win win one.

Speaking regarding the flagship housing project carried out by India in Sri Lanka he stated that they are following a new system which involves direct cash transfers to beneficiaries.
