A suspect dies by hanging himself inside police prison cell.

An incident of an individual committing suicide by hanging himself with his belt inside the Ja-ela prison cell has been reported.


Police media spokesman’s office said that a suspect arrested and detained at the Ja-ela police prison cell over a charge of an attempt to unlawfully enter a house had thus hanged himself.


The police officers on duty seeing the detainee strangling himself, had immediately removed him from the prison cell and taken him to the Ja-ela hospital.


However police media spokesman’s office said that the detainee had died on the way to the hospital.


While the body is now kept at the Ja-ela hospital, the relevant post-mortem is scheduled to be held today.  


Reports say that the police too has begun an investigation into the incident.
