Sultry weather conditions expected to last until end of next month; existence of amphibians threatened

The Department of Meteorology predicts that the sultry weather conditions being experienced at present may last until the end of next month.


According to Duty Meteorologist at the Met. Department S.R. Jayaseka anticipated rain fall this month maybe be further delayed.




Speaking further S R Jayasekara had this to say.....




Moreover the foundation for the Protection of Amphibians states that the prevalent dry weather conditions has adversely affected the existence of amphibians.


It notes that owing to the prevalent dry weather eggs laid by amphibians are destroyed during an embryonic state prior to their maturity.
