Special discussion today on revised electricity tariffs; The Ministry considers some concessions

Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy M.M.C.Ferdinado said that his ministry has started discussions with the Economic Development Ministry to grant some concessions to the consumers.


First among the beneficiaries to receive electricity concessions are the households of the students preparing for the GCE Ordinary Level and the GCE Advanced Level examinations this year.


Meanwhile Lanka Electricity Workers Union is collecting public signatures for a petition in front of the Ceylon Electricity Board Head Quarters in Colombo.

Executive Director of the Lawyers for Human Rights and Development Kalyananda Thiranagama said if concessions given, the old tariff system should be revised.
