Deputy Prime Minister of Japan to Visit Sri Lanka

The Japanese Embassy in Colombo announced today that Deputy Prime Minister of Japan, Taro Aso and Parliamentary Senior Vice Minister of Finance, Yuko Obuchi will visit Sri Lanka from the 1st to 2nd of May 2013.


The two-day visit is a follow-up to the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's visit to Tokyo in March this year.


During their visit the duo will call on the Sri Lankan President to discuss bilateral relations with a view to further strengthening the long-standing ties between the two countries.


The Japanese officials will also visit the Port of Colombo and Colombo Dockyard to observe the progress on the upgrading and expansion of the Colombo Port.


The Government of Japan has provided approximately 800 million US dollars for the project.
