Government should revert the increased electricity tariffs; Gayantha

Several protests against the increased electricity tariffs were held at various places throughout the island today too.


UNP members of the Kandy Municipal Council walked from the town to Municipal Council, holding lit candle sticks to participate in the monthly meeting today.


Opposition members of the Matara Pradeshiya Sabha also walked from Veraduwa junction to the Pradeshiya Sabha premises displaying placards.


Later, UNP Pradehsiya Sabha member Nihal Dalawella has this to say:




Dala-wella said a resolution against the electricity tariff hike is expected to be passed at today’s meeting.


Meanwhile UNP Media spokesman Gayantha Karunatilake addressing a media conference held in Colombo today said that the government should revert the increased electricity tariffs to its previous position.
