Pakistan Afghanistan border closed due to Pakistan General Elections

Pakistani authorities today, issued orders for sealing the border with Afghanistan, during the general election on May 11th in order to maintain peace during the polling.

The government of Khyber-Pak-tunk-wa ordered the provincial home department to seal the Pakistan- Afghanistan border at Tor-kham to "avert the entry of unwanted persons for maintenance of peace" during the elections.


Authorities also instructed the additional chief secretary of the restive tribal areas to restrict Afghan refugees to their camps from May 10th to 12th for security reasons.
