Issues in Electoral list for Northern polls; party representatives complain to Elections Commissioner

A discussion between local political party representatives and Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya held at the latter’s office at Rajagiriya this evening.

 

The discussions were mainly rolled on the revision of voter registration lists 2013.

 

However the problematic areas regarding the voter registration process for the forthcoming Provincial Council Election in the North were also raised at the meeting.

 

After the meeting with the Election Commissioner UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera has this to say.

Attorney at Law Sunil Watagala who represented the JVP before the Commissioner of Elections added that issues persisted in entering the names of Sri Lankan refugees to the electoral list who are currently being housed at camps in Tamilnadu.

 

Tamil National Allaince MP M.A. Sumanthiran expressing his views in this regard however noted that the President had not yet officially notified the Commissioner of Elections regarding polls in the North.
