Salvaging parts of a Lion Air Antnov 24 craft which was brought down by the LTTE in 1998 adjacent to the Kilinochchi-Iranathivu coastline is currently under way.

 

The incident which transpired almost 13 years ago remained a mystery.

 

Subsequent to a confession by a detained LTTE member the wreckage site was discovered.

 

Police Media Spokesperson SP Buddhika Siriwardhana speaking to our news team expressed the following views with regards to the salvage operation currently underway in Iranathivu.
