It is reported that plans are underway to register the Tamil National Alliance under a new leader owing to internal conflicts within the party concerning its registration.

However the Illangai Thamil Arusu Katchchi, a constituent party of the TNA headed by its leader R. Sambanthan remains opposed to the notion.

The rest of the TNA constituents which comprise the TELO, EPRLF, PLOT & the TULF are in favor of the notion, and are poised to go ahead with the re-registration of the TNA under a new leader.

A senior leader of TELO M.K. Siwajilingam speaking to our news team meanwhile expressed the following views in this regard.

Speaking further Siwajilingam noted that in an attempt to quell tensions within the TNA, a meeting has been scheduled with Mannar’s Bishop Rayappu Joseph on the 12th of this month.

Informed sources within the party state that if the TNA is re-registered devoid of the Illangai Thamil Arusu Katchi or the Federal Party, Ananda Sangaree a former parliamentarian & leader of the TULF may be appointed as the TNA’s new leader.
