Rain to be continued this evening as well - Number of affected persons lessen

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Center Pradeep Kodippili said that the number of affected persons by extreme weather condition during the last few days were reduced from 108, 000 to 89,865.




Department of Meteorology predicts today that rainy weather could be expected in several parts of the island this evening too.


Meteorologist on Duty Jeevan Karunaratne said that this weather condition may prevail for the next few days.




Meanwhile Director in charge of the Water Management Unit of the Department of Irrigation Janaki Meegastenna said that the sluice gates of Parakkrama Samudra, Lunugamvehera and Veheragala reservoirs will further be kept open.
