Oil tanker to reach SL by 23rd

Petroleum Industries Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that the tanker-ship carrying crude oil for the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will leave Oman tonight.


He told our news team that the first tanker is expected to reach the island by the 23rd.


The operation of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery was suspended a few days ago due to shortage of crude oil.


JSS Secretary of the Petroleum Corporation branch Ananda Palitha told our news team that the negligence of the authorities is the main cause to the closure of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery.


Describing the closure of the factory Ananda Palitha had this to say.




Meanwhile Minister Yapa stated that US sanctions on Iran is one reason to the delay of crude oil import.
