President Mahinda Rajapaksa presiding over the 4th Victory Day Parade which was held at the Galle Face Green this morning asserted that it was Sri Lanka’s war heroes who led the country to its true liberation, followed by decades old scourge of terrorism.

 

Moreover President Rajapaksa also added that the people of the North should be cautious to protect themselves from pseudo-guardians.

 

The 4th Victory Day Celebrations commenced at the Galle Face Green this morning & was attended by the President, Prime Minister, Speaker & the Chiefs of the three armed forces.

 

A heavy presence of diplomats was also witnessed at the venue & the national flag at the occasion was hoisted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the tune of the countries national anthem.

 

Speaking subsequently President Rajapaksa added that it was the countries war heroes who led the country through its transition to a true liberated state.

Moreover President Rajapaksa added that the people of the North should be aware of pseudo-guardians.

Upon having addressed the nation President Rajapaksa awarded the Parama Vibhushana Medal to several fallen war heroes.

 

Meanwhile, the Commemoration of the fallen war heroes was held at the War Heroes Memorial at the Parliamentary grounds this evening under the patronage of the President.
