Bus association to go on strike from midnight; No strike during Wesak season; says another bus union

The All Island Private Bus Companies Federation says that they would resort to a strike with effect from midnight.


Secretary of the Federation Anjana Priyanjith told our news team that a 10% increase in bus fares should be authorized due to the increase in their expenditure.




However, Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gamunu Wijerathna stated that they would not support this strike.




However, Minister of Private Transportation Services C B Ratnayake stated that licences of buses that go on strike without prior notification will be cancelled.
