The Sri Lanka Private Bus owners’ Union Federation says that the strike that began at mid-night yesterday is being successfully carried out island-wide.
The Federation general secretary Anjana Priyanjith said that his Federation district organizers had reported that the strike had been taking place successfully.
However the Sri Lanka Private Bus Owners Union says that the bus owners were continuing to have their buses operate as usual in accordance with its request.
Elaborating on the subject, Sri Lanka Bus Owners’ Union Chairman Gemunu Wijeratne stated as follows:

Convening a media briefing, National Transport Commission and Western Province Route Transport Authority said yesterday that the strike would not be allowed to cause any inconvenience to the people.
